We already have data warehouse, we don't need D16N
The sources of data increase every day, specification mostly change from time to time. You can still use your data warehouse, but D16N allows you to tie in these new sources of data to produce better information faster and simpler without designing data pipelines.
Implementing new data technology isn’t cost effective.
D16N is a very easy install and get started, it's an abstraction layer on top of your data sources, you don't need to change your data sources and original infrastructure.
Querying virtual data can’t perform like physical data queries.
With growing cloud computing, faster network connections, cheaper instance improvements, and new memory storage, D16N software can process queries with multiple unconnected data sources at near real-time speeds.
The purpose of D16N is to emulate a virtual data warehouse
While D16N can work this way, but it is very different approaches. The flexibility of D16N technology allows you to customize a data structure that fits your business without completely disrupting your current data solution.
D16N and data federation are the same thing.
Data federation is only a subset of D16N. Data federation can standardize data stored on different servers, in various access languages, or with dissimilar APIs. This standardizing capability allows for the successful mining of data from multiple sources and the maximizing of data integration. D16N is a lot more it mosly includes, data cleansing, governance and data sharing.
D16N requires shared storage.
D16N is quite versatile and it could fit into different storages. It allows you to build customized storage devices for your system needs.
D16N can’t perform as fast as ETL.
D16N in most cases could be faster than ETL, because it reduce the complexity of starting servers and building infrastructures.
